Frequently asked questions

Everything people usually ask before their first visit. Anything else, just get in touch.

Movement Therapy or Sports Massage, which one do I need?

As a rule of thumb: if you have pain, an injury, a recurring problem or something you want assessed properly, start with Movement Therapy. If it is general tightness, recovery or maintenance and nothing feels wrong, Sports Massage is ideal.

Still unsure? Take the 60 second quiz, or book a short free Exploratory Consultation and we will work out the best next step together.

Is it right for my problem?

Most aches, pains, injuries and movement problems in active adults are a good fit: backs, hips, knees, shoulders, recurring tightness and returning to sport after injury. The initial appointment exists exactly to look at what is going on and work out what will help.

If what we find needs a GP or another professional instead, I will say so clearly and point you in the right direction. You will never be strung along.

What should I wear?

Comfortable clothing you can move in. Shorts are ideal if we are looking at a hip, knee or ankle, and a vest or sports bra makes shoulders and backs easier to work with. Bring gym kit if you would rather change at the clinic. It is your appointment, so wear whatever you feel comfortable in.

What happens at a first Movement Therapy appointment?

Ninety minutes together. We talk through your story and goals, do a full assessment of how you move and what is sensitive, use hands on treatment where useful, and build an individualised plan around what we find. You leave with clear aftercare and next steps, not just a treatment session.

What happens at a first Sports Massage?

A short chat about your training and where you hold tension, then a full hour of focused hands on treatment tailored to you. If anything looks like more than tightness, I will tell you honestly and explain your options.

How many sessions will I need?

An honest answer: it depends on what is going on, how long it has been there and what you are getting back to. Some people feel meaningful change within a few sessions, longer standing problems usually need more time. What I will not do is sign you up to an endless plan. We review as we go and you stay in control.

Where are you, and is there parking?

The clinic is at 139 Deepwell Avenue, Halfway, Sheffield, S20 4SS. There is free on street parking nearby, and the Halfway tram stop is a short walk away, so getting here is easy from anywhere in Sheffield, South Yorkshire or North East Derbyshire.

Do you do evenings and weekends?

Weekday hours run into the evening: Monday, Wednesday and Thursday 1pm to 9pm, and Friday 9am to 4pm. Weekend appointments are available on request at an enhanced rate, priced on the booking site, using the Weekend Priority option. Request a weekend appointment.

Do you sell gift cards?

Yes. Gift cards are available through the booking page and can be put towards any service. A good present for the runner, cyclist or gym goer in your life.

How do I book?

Everything is booked online through the booking site, where you can see live availability. If you are not sure what to book, start with the quiz or the free consultation, or send a message.

Question answered? Good. Here is the next step.
